This monster Wilton vise weighs about 160 pounds.
It is a real WILTON VISE made in Schiller Park, Illinois, USA.
I believe it may be a model 09-600 as it looks like another I have photos of and it has the same jaw width and weighs the same, but I am not an expert by any means.
All I can say for sure is that it is a real monster and it is in near new condition, paint excepted.
Look at the replaceable jaws as shown in the photo.
Even the rubber bumpers on the sliding handle are intact and near perfect - they are nearly always missing.
It has never been abused in any way.
It has been in a heated and air conditioned shop and any rust is light storage surface rust only and is easily removable.
I have made no attempt to clean it up or doctor it in any way.
What you see is exactly what it is! The vise is 23-1/2 long with jaws closed, 13-1/2 high, and 12 inches wide.
Jaws are 6 inches wide and are replaceable.
With the jaws opened fully it is 32 inches long! Jaws open to a bit over 10 inches at which point the screw disengages.
Maximum working opening is probably somewhere about 9 inches max.
, certainly at least 8 inches or so.
Distance from top of jaws down to the 3 inch diameter ram is 7-1/4 inches.
Swivel base is 12 inches across with four bolt holes of 5/8 inch diameter.
The base has dual locks.
The rear flat anvil area is 3 X 3-1/2 inches.
The jaws close tight and square - that is to say in proper alignment.
I have owned this vise for over 35 years, used it rarely and even then lightly, and it is in great condition all considered.
Looks like new Wilton vises of this size list for about $3,500 and sell for about $3,000 - more or less - plus quite a bit for shipping, with a few adds for more than $2600 as a minimum.
Used ones in good condition appear to sell for about half that, or $8/pound.
I am pricing this one at $850 or about $5/pound.
I see rusted beat up ones with more than that much for an asking price, so lets not get stupid with low ball 1/2 price offers please.
Also, I paid $400 for it more than 35 years ago - and it was used then! Inflation would put it well over my asking price by now.
And, you can come get it and avoid shipping costs too.
A little paint and it will be spectacular! This is definitely not the common little 3 or 4 inch bench top bullet vises that get $300 plus.
Again, price is $850 cash - no trades or E-money or checks, etc.
If interested respond via Craig's list e-mail only - and put wilton vise in the subject line.
Provide your name and phone number in the body and I will call you from a (614) 457 XXXX number.
If you do not have a table or bench that can hold such a monster, I have a work bench/machine base that can and I will make you a very attractive package deal on both.
