What You’ll Do: Requires thorough knowledge of records management in order to complete thorough, in-depth review of all commitments to Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) as well as sentence modifications and jail credit orders and ensures compliance with Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Calculates and maintains proper and accurate inmate sentences, parole eligibility, release dates, jail time credit, good time credit, and earned credit in accordance with ORC, Administrative Regulations and DRC policies Determines earned credit eligibility and correct application of appropriate sentencing law Oversees and reviews inmate sentence calculations for precise accuracy in compliance with ORC, Administrative Regulations and DRC policies and procedures to ensure proper release of inmates Halts releases when new information is received and re-computes release dates in compliance with court orders Reviews appellate decisions to determine impact on current sentences Serves as liaison between Computation Bureau and courts Testifies in court regarding sentence computation matters Works with Attorney General’s Office to provide sentence computation information in lawsuits involving DRC Completes performance evaluations Trains staff in correctional records activities and applicable statutes, regulations, case law and department policies Serves as investigatory officer and hearing officer in staff disciplinary matters Compiles data for monthly and/or statistical reports Conducts staff meetings to keep staff abreast of policy and procedural updates Serves on standing and ad hoc committees as directed by Assistant Chief or Chief Attends meetings, trainings and conferences May give presentations and conduct training.
