Description
Deputy Clerk within the Probate Division of the Juvenile and Probate Court.
Under the direction of the Probate Court Judge and Probate Court Administrator, manage Probate Court case files consistent with Ohio law and local rules in coordination with customers, attorneys, and other community partners.
Duties
Review case filings to ensure compliance with local rules, checklists, and Ohio law.
Compare filings with estate documents, including wills, to ensure that proposed action is consistent with the written intent of the decedent.
Review filings to ensure customers and attorneys are compliant with deadlines.
Take appropriate follow-up action.
Respond to inquiries from customers, attorneys, and community partners.
When needed, consult with the Probate Court Judge and/or Probate Court Administrator to ensure proper responses are given in a timely manner.
Properly maintain all court filings and case records.
Follow-up with all required case activities pre/post hearing.
Prepare written reports and other correspondence.
Work in a fast-paced environment and professionally handle stressful situations.
Professionally correspond with customers, attorneys, and community partners in-person, via phone, and email.
Demonstrate an attention to detail and accurately enter data into case management systems.
Run reports and provide relevant data to management team members in a timely manner.
Provide support with scheduling, record retrieval, tracking referrals, and timely processing of paperwork as directed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or paralegal certification preferred.
Strong Administrative writing skills, reporting skills, scheduling, organization, time management, presentation skills, equipment maintenance, travel logistics, verbal communication, good memory power.
Works well as a member of a team, high patience level, capable of working extra hours when needed.
Familiarity with the following: MS Suite, Adobe, Merge Pro, Case Management Systems.
